Barbados a small Caribbean island located out in the east, scorched with the sun and blessed with the cooling trade winds. An island of vivid beauty and dynamic locations. More than a few snap shots on a beautiful stretch of beach, to the photographer it is an exotic landscape of diversity. The island is compact!
The West coast line is dotted with caves and glistening seas, golden sands and swaying palms. Private homes and prestigious hotels with exotic swimming pools. In contrast little guest houses, shopping villages, brightly coloured traditional wooden chattel houses, fishing villages and small market towns.
The Caribbean sea is a hive of activity with a wide range of water sports. There are professional golf courses, polo fields and pro tennis courts, the new ICC world cricket venue, and the Savannah horse racing track.
The restaurants range from sophisticated menus with elegant dress, and the local cuisine with casual attire.
Night life bubbles with a host of bars, evening cruises, shows, clubs and dances.
During the day there are 4 X 4 safari and sea cruises. Hillsides of spectacular views, amazing beaches and arid landscapes speckled with cacti, jungle and tropical flora.
The North point is edged with cliffs and caves with dramatic seascapes, landscapes and pebbled beaches.
The East coast is a long stretch of wild grainy sands and sea lagoon ponds with scattered drift woods. Rock faces in a melange of clay, even desert like terrain. The raging surf is a paradise for the professional surfer, the famous soup bowl of Bathsheba, with carved coral stone rocks as monuments in the Atlantic shores.
The South east coast made up of beautiful secluded coves with wide and flat stretches of white powdered sands. Strong blue seas and bouncing white surf. Scattered palms and rock formations give such a private backdrop. The light is fresh, atmospheric, even diffused giving a softened edge!
Finally the south coast is a jostle of holiday makers, board walks, rum shops, and beaches with some quirky locations.
Throughout the island are traditional architectural details from colonial to contemporary, even marinas, parks, botanical gardens, historical places of interest with the most breath taking views across the island.
The early morning sun rises to the east, the days are long and sizzling hot, as the sun slowly slips away melting over the horizon of the West, radiating its glowing evening light.
